How many classes a week can I attend?
You can attend up to two classes a week while enrolled in Level 1A or 1B provided we have the availability that term. This is a complementary part of your enrolment as we believe you learn best from lots of practice. You can select these classes when you enroll.
Do I need a Partner?
No you don’t need a partner. Our step-by-step program means you don’t need to bring your own partner. We will be rotating in the class which will significantly improve your lead and follow by dancing with lots of different people as well as Instructors and assistants
Do I have to rotate?
While we recommend rotating as a great way to improve your lead/follow, you do not have to rotate. If you prefer to stay with your partner, just let us know and when the class rotates, just stay together let everyone rotate around you.
What should I expect from a beginners class?
Intro to Salsa and Bachata is a 5 week program that progresses weekly. You'll get a taste for these two popular dance styles as well as the foundational dance of Merengue, learning the basic steps, latin body movement and rhythm, turns, patterns, dips and more! We rotate partners regularly during the class to help everyone progress - but don't worry, if you are coming with your partner and only want to dance together during the classes, that is totally fine - just stay together when we rotate!
Does it matter if I start in 1A or 1B?
No it doesn’t matter which level 1 you start in, and to progress to level 2, you’ll complete both 1A and 1B anyway. Both Syllabus’s are foundational with different moves that you’ll need to learn before moving up.
What level should I join if I have danced before but at a different studio?
It depends on your dance experience. If you have never done any kind of Latin dance, we recommend starting in beginners to gain the foundations of Latin dance and body movement.
If you have experience in Salsa or Bachata we recommend taking our 30min intro Private lesson so we can assess which level will be best suited for you.
What does a beginner’s class include?
Your 5-week beginner’s classes include:
Quality instruction from a Qualified Salsa Instructor
Up to two classes to attend per week
Weekly breakdown videos after the class to practice during the week, accessible in our online portal
Access to our Spotify playlists for practice
Your first social event free!
Complementary in-term workshops to develop your learning
How do I access important information?
All of our important information will be emailed to you or posted in our Salsa on the Central Coast Facebook Group. Make sure to add dance@centralcoastsalsa.com.au to your contacts so you don’t miss an important email. You can also join the Salsa on the Central Coast Facebook group for the latest events and information. We are looking forward to having you join the Central Coast’s community of Latin Dancers!
What should I wear?
Dress in comfortable clothes that you can move easily in. Most people prefer to wear activewear and shoes that you can easily turn turn with - we don’t recommend running shoes as they have a lot of grip. Many students treat salsa class as a change to dress up and go out, so if you like to do that, please do, being mindful of how you’ll be able to move in what you are wearing. We do sell shoes and dance wear at the studio and online. You can view and purchase them here:
How do I access my video portal?
Before the term starts, you’ll get an email that sends your logins to you. Save that email for your reference or save your logins. We recommend changing your password when you login for the first time.
Your username will be the email you enrolled with and if your password ever doesn’t work - even the first time - just click on the reset password link and it will send you a new one.
The new videos will become available once a week, keep an eye out for the notification email when new content arrives!
